Manufacturer Coverage vs. Our Craftsmanship Warranty
Most roofing companies quote one “lifetime warranty” and leave it there. That blurs two genuinely different promises, and homeowners find out which is which at the worst possible moment.
Material Warranties
Issued by GAF, CertainTeed or Mule-Hide, and they cover the products — a manufacturing defect in the shingle or membrane. Our certifications with each manufacturer are what allow us to register the enhanced tiers on your behalf.
Craftsmanship Warranty
Issued by us, and it covers our installation — the work itself. Written per project, because the right term depends on how the roof is designed, what goes on it, and whether the job is a repair or a full replacement.
GAF System Plus and Silver Pledge
As a GAF Certified Plus contractor, Stellar is authorized to register both warranties below. These are the current terms, which GAF revised effective July 1, 2026.
Silver Pledge Limited Warranty
GAF's upper residential tier, and the level that adds misapplication coverage.
- Lifetime limited coverage on manufacturing defects, with 50 years non-prorated
- Covers replacement material, installation labor, tear-off and disposal on covered repairs
- Misapplication coverage: 10 years non-prorated on Timberline NS and HDZ, or 15 years non-prorated on UHDZ, AS II and Designer shingles
System Plus Limited Warranty
The same material coverage as Silver Pledge, without the misapplication protection.
- Lifetime limited coverage on manufacturing defects, with 50 years non-prorated
- Covers replacement material, installation labor, tear-off and disposal on covered repairs
- No misapplication coverage — Silver Pledge is the level that adds it
Three-tab shingles are no longer eligible for either warranty as of July 1, 2026.
SureStart PLUS 3-Star
As a CertainTeed ShingleMaster, Stellar is authorized to register the SureStart PLUS 3-Star warranty on qualifying Integrity Roof System installations.
Lifetime Limited Material Warranty
Landmark and the other CertainTeed lines we install are Lifetime shingles.

- 50 years non-prorated
3-Star SureStart PLUS
The coverage the Integrity Roof System and our ShingleMaster credential unlock.
- Adds 10 years of 100% non-prorated labor and material coverage
- Transferable to a new homeowner

Coatings and Single-Ply Systems
On flat and low-slope commercial work, the available term is driven by the specification for that specific building rather than by a catalogue number.
GAF CoatingsPro — Liquid-Applied Emerald Pledge
Registered on qualifying liquid-applied silicone systems as a GAF CoatingsPro contractor.
- Silicone systems carry 10, 15 or 20 year terms
- The term is determined by the specification written for that particular building
Mule-Hide — TPO System Warranty
Single-ply coverage on flat and low-slope commercial roofs, up to a 20 year system warranty.
- System warranties available up to 20 years on TPO
- The longer terms carry design requirements, so the available term is determined per project
None of these warranties are automatic
Every warranty on this page is conditional. Coverage depends on the system installed, the specific products used, and the building itself. A roof that qualifies for the top tier on one house may not on the one next door.
So we don't promise a tier before we've seen the roof. Your actual warranty — manufacturer and craftsmanship, with the real terms and the real duration — is confirmed on your proposal, in writing, before any work starts.
If a roofer quotes you a warranty over the phone without inspecting the roof, that is worth a second thought.

The manufacturer covers their materials. We cover our work.
Our craftsmanship warranty is written per project rather than sold as one fixed number, because the honest term depends on how the roof is designed, what products go on it, and whether the job is a repair or a full replacement.
In practice it ranges from 5 to 10 years, and up to 20 years on qualifying full replacements and repairs. Your specific term is stated on your proposal, so you know what you have before you sign, not after something goes wrong.
It is the same reason we don't advertise one blanket warranty across every job: a targeted flashing repair and a full tear-off are not the same promise, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.

Roof Warranty Questions
Is my roof automatically covered by these warranties?
No, and this is the part most homeowners are never told. None of the manufacturer warranties on this page are automatic. What you qualify for depends on the system installed, the specific products used, and the building itself. Your actual coverage is confirmed in writing on your proposal before any work begins — that document, not this page, is the authority on your roof.
What is the difference between the manufacturer warranty and the Stellar craftsmanship warranty?
They cover different failures and they are backed by different companies. The manufacturer warranty is issued by GAF, CertainTeed or Mule-Hide and covers their materials — a defective shingle or membrane. Our craftsmanship warranty is issued by Stellar Roofing Company and covers our installation — the work itself. A roof can have a problem under one and not the other, which is exactly why we keep them separate rather than describing one blended 'lifetime warranty'.
How long is the Stellar craftsmanship warranty?

What does 'non-prorated' actually mean?
A prorated warranty pays out less as the roof ages — by year 20 a claim might be worth a fraction of what it would have been new. Non-prorated coverage means the value is not reduced over that period. On the GAF residential warranties above, the manufacturing-defect coverage is non-prorated for 50 years, and the misapplication coverage is non-prorated for its stated term.
Can I still get a warranty on three-tab shingles?
No. As of July 1, 2026, three-tab shingles are no longer eligible for either the GAF System Plus or Silver Pledge limited warranty. It is one of several reasons we don't install them — architectural shingles both perform better in West Michigan's freeze-thaw cycles and remain warranty-eligible.
Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
CertainTeed's SureStart PLUS coverage is transferable to a new homeowner. There is a specific window in which the transfer has to be made, and rather than publish a figure we haven't confirmed, we'll give you the exact terms in writing with your proposal. Transferability is worth asking about at listing time — it is a genuine selling point.
Who registers the warranty — me or Stellar?
We do. Our certifications with GAF, CertainTeed and Mule-Hide are what authorize us to register these warranties on your behalf, and registering them correctly is part of the job. A contractor who isn't certified with the manufacturer cannot register the enhanced tiers at all.
